Alex Ostrow, MEd, MHC
Adolescents, Adults Age Group:
My name is Alex and I am a Mental Health Counselor. After a career in marketing in a corporate setting for over a decade, I discovered my passion for the field of mental health counseling and pursued my Master’s degree from Bridgewater State University. I use a collaborative approach to help my clients find their drive and navigate life’s many challenges and difficult decisions as someone who is “on their team.” I have experience working with clients of all ages and especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults and helping them find their path forward. My main objective is to help clients overcome their anxiety and depression in order to achieve their goals and find their passions in life.
I also hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Management from UMass Amherst. I am an avid golfer and enjoy working with athletes of all kinds to build their mental strength skills and help maximize their performance both on and off the field. I intend to pursue a certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant in the near future in hopes of providing even more robust support to this population.
My experience working in a high school setting allowed me to support students on social, emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns and the pressures they face. My experience working at an outpatient mental health counseling agency afforded me the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients looking for support with anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, self-esteem, anger, trauma, and interpersonal relationships.
With my varied background both in and out of the mental health field, I am my client’s biggest supporter and draw from a wide range of experience. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions in my work including CBT, mindfulness practice, and more recently Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In my opinion, ACT incorporates aspects of both CBT and mindfulness to support growth in a structured and holistic way. I have personally benefited from mindfulness practice in my life and enjoy teaching my clients how to develop their own mindfulness skills.
I am offering in person and virtual sessions Monday through Friday in the Norfolk office. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
