James DeBlois, LICSW
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping others pursue personal growth in a safe and nurturing environment with a focus on respecting one’s individuality and sense of self. I provide a person-centered and strength-based approach to adults and adolescents to achieve their goals. My goal is to create a relaxed and flexible approach to address your concerns and assist you with respect, dignity, compassion and empathy.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Supportive Therapy and Mindfulness techniques to assist those struggling with trauma, psychosis, substance use, anxiety and depression and the challenges those experiences create. In spite of those challenges, I believe people are resilient and have the ability to make positive, lasting change and find a sense of happiness, balance and fulfillment in their lives.
I have experience working in specialized education programs teaching, supporting and advocating for Middle School and High School students experiencing social, emotional and academic struggles. I’ve also worked in forensic and community mental health programs providing consultation, psychotherapy and advocacy to adults while supporting families whose loved ones live with severe mental health conditions.
I work out of the Norfolk office Monday through Thursday (currently telehealth appointments only). Please go to our “Make an Appointment” page to check my availability.
