Children, Adolescents, Adults Age Group:

Welcome! I am Barbara Grim, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, who works with children, teens, and young adults. I believe that healing is possible, and that we heal best through supportive relationships, introspection, and learning new skills for managing difficult experiences.

Over the past 8 years I have had the privilege to work with clients who have come to me with a variety of mental health struggles.  Some of the areas I focus on include trauma, anxiety and depression, neurodiversity, the LGBTQIA+ community, behavioral dysregulation, and family relationships. I strive to create a safe and collaborative environment where clients feel seen, and where they are empowered to reach their goals.

My approach to therapy includes a foundation built on a caring, validating relationship, combined with facilitating change through skill building. I draw from Interpersonal Psychotherapy, DBT, CBT, ACT, and play therapy. I have also been certified in ARC trauma treatment for children and adolescents. I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University, and I have previous experience working as an In-Home Therapist, in a Partial Hospitalization Program, and in an Outpatient Mental Health setting.

I work in person, out of the Norfolk office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. It takes a lot of strength to ask for help when we are struggling, and I would love to offer my support and care to help you on your path forward.
