Maureen DiMilla, LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have a specialized interest and skill set in working with adolescents, young adults, families and adults. I have a warm and inviting approach that allows me to build rapport quickly with teens and also be a support to parents. I have a skills based style and consider myself to be a compassionately direct communicator, incorporating humor at times and always working together with you, sharing my insights and reflections.
Through a collaborative treatment model, we will explore your resiliencies, strengths and healthy coping, while working with you on also identifying areas of growth and opportunity for improved life balance. My therapy is influenced by solution focused techniques, motivational perspective, strength based and most predominantly through Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) interventions. I have over 100 hours of post graduate clinical training and consultation in DBT. I have a passion for individual work as well as group therapy and currently run the DBT Workshops at Transitions.
I specialize in treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, adoption and blended families, LGBTQ issues with teens and parents, emotional regulation, interpersonal conflict and reactive attachment. I believe in creating a comfortable and safe environment for you to explore the vulnerable topics we will discuss. I foster client engagement and aim to empower you to feel more in control of your emotions, behaviors, and relationships.
I earned my Counseling Degree at Framingham State College. I have extensive work experience with Department of Children and Families.
I work out of the Norfolk office and though I am currently not accepting new individual clients, I currently run two DBT workshops. A series for Adults and DBTeen. Please see the “About” page for more details on when the next series starts and how to register.
