Phyllis Prout, LICSW
Adults Age Group:
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, with a wide variety of life experience. I specialize in working with adults and older adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, low self esteem, life transitions, medical crisis, and relationship issues to name a few.
I truly enjoy working with people, and believe in the client centered collaborative process that therapy can be. I base treatment on your personal goals and strengths, using elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy and Mindfulness based techniques and solutions.
I know and trust that we all have our own inner strengths and the ability to become more comfortable with ourselves. I enjoy listening to clients and together exploring a variety of ways to look at life through a different lens, including ways to work with daily and life long stressors and trauma. I am well versed in medical social work (over 20 years), and as such am familiar with issues of grief and loss, loss of ability and the profound changes that can occur in one’s life as a result of illness.
I have a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University, Canada, a Masters of Social Work from Simmons University and am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Boston University. My background includes many years of medical and mental health social work, palliative care and hospice support, and case management.
I offer telehealth appointments and limited in person appointments at the Norfolk office by appointment only.
